New York City

2023

I’ve been to New York several times over the years, most of them with my dad. He took me here, the first time, when I was just 10 years old and I have a couple of memories carved in my mind from that trip. The first one is my dad ordering two kitchens instead of two chickens in a diner in Times Square. The poor waiter stood at us a little bit confused until I stepped in and explained the misunderstanding. The second memory is the view from the top of the Twin Towers and the incredible emotion that it was for me to go up there. Coming from a small city in northern Italy I’d never seen anything like that.

Then over the years we came back a few more times. My dad for business meetings and me, tagging along and exploring the Big Apple by myself. Last year I had the chance to join a group of friends for a week of photography in New York and I couldn’t miss it for my life. Apart from being an amazing city, it is a place that is full of meaning and good memories for me, and I tried to put all my passion and sentiment into these pictures. I like to think that somewhere, closer than I may think, my dad is looking at them and laughing his ass off thinking about those two kitchens.
